A recent study has pinpointed “Animal Farm,” “Snakes in Suits: When Psychopaths Go to Work,” and “MI6 Spy Skills for Civilians” as some of the most peculiar choices for book gifts. The holiday season prompted Talker Research to carry out this survey, which was sponsored by ThriftBooks and involved 2,000 American readers. The research aimed to understand current trends in the gifting of books, particularly focusing on the most unusual titles that recipients have encountered. The survey also sought to highlight the most memorable books of the year based on readers’ experiences. The data indicated that 33% of participants had been given a book that was a surprise. Among the unexpected gifts was an autobiography of a friend, as reported by one participant. Other notably unexpected book gifts mentioned included financial self-help books and “The Art of War.”
